Building Bridges between Climate Information and Adaptation Decisions

An Invitation to Participate in Pilot Actions to upscale climate information solutions; Learning by Doing

  • The problem: Multiple barriers, constraints and ambiguities hinder the use of climate information in consequential adaptation decisions. Some are context-specific; others recur across contexts.
  • The challenge: Guidance is often context-dependent, presumptive, difficult to scale, and poorly transferable: this needs a strong evidence base to identify shared barriers, transferable lessons, and scalable, pragmatic solutions.

What are the pilot actions?

Small, practical, low-cost activities that learn from real attempts to connect climate information and adaptation decisions, building shared learning across Africa.  Supported for small meetings and local costs, the actions will complete by June 2027, and contribute to a pan-Africa workshop to learn from experiences, and develop next steps.

How do pilot actions work?

  • Decision makers and climate-information practitioners collaborate together in small teams to learn from real experience, challenge assumptions, and understand what helps or hinders adaptation decisions.
  • Teams span diverse contexts to identify barriers, lessons and unsuccessful approaches; distinguish context-specific from transferable insights; develop and test practical solutions where common challenges emerge.
  • The pilots create a shared evidence base: learn locally, compare across contexts, and innovate collectively.

We invite you to consider leading or joining one of the teams. Note that this is not a public open call; you must have previously received an invitation to complete this form.
